A provincial farm group is calling on both levels of government to strengthen farm support programs.

The Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan President Todd Lewis was in Quebec City this week for a meeting of farm leaders and agriculture ministers from across the country.

Lewis said programs like AgriStability and crop insurance are under review and he wants to see some enhancements.

He said farmers continue to face serious weather and trade concerns.

Federal Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau was in Saskatoon this week for the opening of Ag in Motion and to attend the Dairy Farmers of Canada annual meeting.

She said there was nothing new to report on the canola trade dispute with China

She added they continue to push for further communication to have Chinese officials show evidence of what they said they had found in Canadian canola.

Bibeau said the situation surrounding Canadian beef and pork is different as they are having regular conversations.
