Strong attendance at outdoor farm show

The gloomy skies this morning didn’t dampened the mood of the general manager of Ag in Motion (AIM).

Even with some rain yesterday afternoon and the chance of showers in forecast for today, Rob O’Connor said attendance numbers were not impacted.

“We were 450 people less on day one this year then last year. I think we’re still on par for a similar attendance figure as last year,” he said. “That makes you feel really good because we work all year to get to this point and to have people come when they know there was a potential for rain makes us feel like we’re doing something right.”

The parking lot is in good shape and you may encounter some mud on the grounds. O’Connor said that won’t be a problem.

“We’re still in a field. This is agriculture. This is outdoors. That’s the way our business runs,” O’Connor said. “We have 15 summer students plus a management team that is seasonal. They dedicate their time to this place. I’m just really proud of the job they did to keep this place looking so good.”

The second annual Field of Stars fundraising concert for STARS Air Ambulance was a success.

O’Connor said the event raised $470,000.

“It just feels really good to be part of something that we can do and give back to such an important service to rural Saskatchewan,” O’Connor said. “I really hope we can continue to do this and keep raising money.”

Ag in Motion closes tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
