Alberta Grains, Alberta Canola both looking for board members

Nominations are open for spots on the first board of directors for Alberta Grains.

It was recently formed when Alberta Barley and the Alberta Wheat Commission merged.

There are 12 spots on the board, two per region. The organization said in a release that farmers from all sizes of operations and backgrounds are encouraged to take part.

The Alberta Canola Producers Commission says nominations for its Board of Directors elections are now open in four regions.

That includes Region 2, which takes in the County of Grande Prairie, the MDs of Greenview and Spirit River, and Birch Hills and Saddle Hills Counties.

Region 5 includes the Counties of Thorhild, Barrhead, and Athabasca, along with Smoky Lake, Woodlands, Sturgeon, and Westlock Counties.

Region 8 takes in Wheatland, Mountain View, Rocky View, and Kneehill Counties, the MDs of Bighorn and Foothills, and Improvement District No. 9.

Region 11 includes the Counties of Stettler, Paintearth, Camrose, and Flagstaff Counties, the M.D. of Provost, and Special Area No. 4.

Anyone who has paid a service charge to Alberta Canola since August 1, 2021, and grows Canola in the region can run.
