Public consultations open on Farm Security Act

Oct 13, 2026 | 12:05 PM

The provincial government is reviewing the Saskatchewan Farm Security Act, and they’re looking for your input.

They have posted a public survey that is now available through the government’s website.

Agriculture Minister David Marit said the government wants to hear from Saskatchewan producers and residents about the act.

“Farmland is one of Saskatchewan’s most valuable assets, and we want to ensure the legislative framework governing its ownership and protection continues to meet the needs of Saskatchewan people,” Marit said.

The government said the survey will take people about 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and all answers are confidential. It seeks to gather information “on the perceptions, use, and effectiveness of the Act.” That includes farmland ownership, home quarter protection, and farm foreclosure protections.

The province said the survey data will be used as part of a review of the Act, to ensure that any potential changes make sense and meet the needs of the people.

You can access the survey here, and it will remain open until Nov. 30.
