Leadership changes for national farm group

Cereals Canada has elected Adam Dyck of Warburtons as chair of its board of directors.

The board, made up of representatives from producer organizations and industry, welcomed four newly elected directors: Emiley Saunders of Sask Wheat; Korey Peters and Doug Martin, producer representatives with Manitoba Crop Alliance; and Scott Jespersen of Alberta Grains.

As chair, Dyck will help lead the organization’s work to strengthen Canada’s position as a supplier of wheat, durum, barley and oats.

The executive committee also includes vice-chair Josh Boersen, producer representative from Grain Farmers of Ontario; secretary Rob Stone of Sask Wheat; and treasurer Jean-Marc Ruest, industry representative from Richardson International.

Cereals Canada CEO Dean Dias said the board plays a critical role in guiding the organization’s work on behalf of Canada’s cereals value chain.

“We are pleased to welcome Adam as chair and to welcome our new directors,” Dias said. “Their collective experience and commitment will help ensure Cereals Canada continues delivering value for producers, exporters and customers around the world.”

Dyck replaces Brett Halstead, a producer representative from Sask Wheat, who had served as chair since 2024. In 2025, Halstead led the board through the implementation of a new strategic plan for Cereals Canada.

Also completing their terms are producer representatives Gregg Fotheringham and Boris Michaleski of Manitoba Crop Alliance, Greg Sears of Alberta Grains, and industry representative Jared Veness of BASF Canada.

“The cereals sector continues to operate in a rapidly evolving global environment, and strong leadership is essential to maintaining Canada’s reputation as a preferred supplier of high-quality cereals,” Dias said. “We look forward to working with Adam and the board as we advance strategic priorities that strengthen competitiveness and create value across the sector. At the same time, we extend our sincere thanks to Brett Halstead and our departing directors for their leadership, dedication and service to Cereals Canada.”
