Next Gen Agriculture Mentorship Program

Mentoring the next generation of agriculture leaders

Mar 15, 2024 | 11:00 AM

Young people have a chance to shape the future of the agriculture sector, and Saskatchewan’s farmers and ranchers have a wealth of knowledge and experience they’re eager to share.

The Next Gen Agriculture Mentorship Program, delivered by Canadian Western Agribition (CWA), connects them to encourage and support the agricultural leaders of the future.

CWA, in partnership with the federal and Saskatchewan governments, accepts eight applicants for an 18-month mentorship experience.

For this cohort, mentees are paired with leaders in agriculture and are exposed to industry knowledge, board and governance training, advocacy, business education, and networking opportunities.

Mentees are selected by an advisory committee based on industry involvement in the program.

Mentees and their paired mentors include:

– Noah Rempel paired with Lynn Grant

– Jenna Sarich paired with Sandy Russell

– Brett Spray paired with Garret Poletz

– Ashley Drummond paired with Penny Eaton

– Shelby Corey paired with Lance Leachman

– Kendall Gee paired with Austin Baron

– Mackenzie Seidle paired with Jason Croswell

– Claire Ledingham paired with Kurtis Reid

CWA CEO Shaun Kindopp said his organization is proud to continue its support in building a successful future for the next generation of industry professionals.

“Having the opportunity to provide a valuable 18-month mentorship experience that is like no other reflects our commitment in ensuring our industry is continually evolving,” Kindopp said. “We are excited to see what this year’s cohort brings forth.”

This is the fifth grouping under the Next Gen Program, which was established in 2019.
