Changes to Canada’s Express Entry through category-based selection will help address labour shortages by inviting candidates with specific work experience or French language ability to apply for permanent residence.

The first round of invitations for agriculture and agri-food occupations through category-based selection began this week.

The focus will be on candidates with experience as agricultural service contractors, farm supervisors, and retail and wholesale butchers who will help the sector attract the skilled talent it needs across the country.

Canada’s Express Entry system is now tailored to provide a streamlined and efficient pathway for individuals with expertise in critical fields.

SVG Ventures|THRIVE has announced the finalists selected to compete in the 2023 Global Impact Challenge.

Of the 25 startups, there are 10 from the US, three from Australia, two from Canada, two from Israel, and one each from Spain, New Zealand, India, Brazil, Poland, Japan, Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

The challenge is a global search for the most innovative startups that are advancing a more sustainable future for agriculture and who have technologies focused on soil health and biodiversity, reducing and offsetting GHG emissions, water management and quality.

Winners will be announced in each of the categories and winning companies will pitch their solutions to the summit audience. Recognition awards will also be presented to the Top Female Founder & People’s Choice award winners in addition to the overall Challenge Winner.

The Global Impact Summit provides the platform to delve into innovative solutions and ignite transformative shifts within the agriculture sector.
