Farm show gets a new name and look

Canada’s Farm Progress Show in Regina is going through a major transformation.

The show will have a new look, a new name, rebranding and added entertainment.

New name

Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) president and CEO Tim Reid said they will start by dropping “progress” from the title.

“We’re just calling it Canada’s Farm Show. I think what we recognize is that progress and innovation are inherent to the industry and actually based on the future of our success. ‘Progress’ is no longer in the title and it’s just Canada’s Farm Show, presented by Viterra,” he said. “We’ve adapted a new brand and a new logo. It really speaks to our three key pillars which are innovation, collaboration and education, which is the focus of the show going forward.”

Reid said dates have been shifted to midweek with the show being held Tuesday Jun. 16 to Thursday Jun. 18 with the hope it will improve access and commuting as well as cut some of the costs associated with overtime.

All indoor

Another big change is the show will be held entirely indoors as the weather can be challenging in the spring.

“Given the assets that we have on campus, we could move everything indoors. It’ll provide significant parking for anybody that wants to transit to site and get off quickly. And more importantly, we think it’s going to be an expanded footprint going forward and more importantly an all indoor show,” he said.

Reid explained one of the challenges was balancing the needs of outdoor and indoor vendors and to think of the two spaces and unique elements.

“By bringing everything indoors, we’ve opened up all of facilities that we have. We’ve seen a fantastic response.”

Reid said it’s top 30 exhibitors have agreed to make a three year commitment to the show. He said the response has been so good that they’ve had to open every building on site to accommodate the needs.

“Obviously indoor square feet will go up for next year. But overall, we think that the entire indoor space that you would see at Evraz Place amongst all of our variety of buildings will be populated with exhibitor space and it’s off to a great start.”

Entertainment

Another new element to the show will be entertainment.

“We realized that this is a business to business show and that people want to be able to have hosting opportunities, no different than we see in major sporting events. So we partnered with Alpha Bull where we’ll have a high end premium package that corporate clients can be hosted at, but, we’ll also have public availability.” he said.

Reid said there will be a speaker series and new product launches. Also, one admission ticket will secure access to all three days of the show.
