Feed barley lost in early morning grain dryer fire

Oct 1, 2019 | 11:49 AM

Several hundred bushels of feed barley were lost as a result of a grain dryer fire early Tuesday morning.

Melfort Fire and Rescue responded to the fire at around 1 a.m. in the R.M. of Star City.

Crews knocked the fire down after several hours and it has since been returned to the owner.

According to Fire Chief Jason Everitt the cause of the fire has been deemed accidental.

“Quick recognition and action of the farmer limited damage to the structure,” Everitt said.

There were no injuries reported in the incident.
