Grain futures are stuck in neutral.

Wayne Palmer is the senior analyst with Exceed Grain Marketing. His daily report indicated all the grains will close the week basically unchanged unless there are dramatic developments in today’s trade.

The report also stated any support will come from weekly soybean and export sales that are well above expectations as China is purchasing U.S. soybeans.

Palmer said on the other side of the grain markets, wheat export sales were the lowest in 10 weeks. While the weather is conducive to getting the harvested corn and beans safely into the bins and that will add to the glut of grain supplies that has hampered grain prices in 2019.

As part of phosphorus week Sept. 16 to 23, two researchers are sharing a review around the science of phosphorus fertilization under 4R Nutrient Stewardship.

Cynthia Grant and Don Flaten identified key gaps in knowledge and priorities for future research on the topic.

Grant said the encouraging news is the research generally shows that most of the phosphorus management practices that increase the agronomic efficiency of phosphorus use by crops also reduce the environmental risk losses.

The initiative is in support of the 4R Research Network, a selection of nine leading Canadian researchers who quantify the economic, social and environmental benefits resulting from advanced fertilizer management systems.

4R Nutrient Stewardship focuses on the right source, the right rate, the right time and the right place.

The review was funded by Fertilizer Canada and the North American 4R Research Fund.

The upcoming Public Trust Summit will focus on the conversation about food and farming.

Canadian Centre for Food Integrity and Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan will be co-hosting the event in partnership with the Canadian Centre for Food Integrity.

The summit provides a forum for building relationships and learning how to engage and build trust in the food system.

The Public Trust Summit will take the place Nov. 13 and 14 in Saskatoon.
