There is an international flavour to Canada’s farm progress show.

There will be roughly 500 international visitors in attendance coming from several countries including Brazil, Ukraine, China and Mongolia, to name a few.

Show manager Shirley Janeczko said foreign guests come to study and buy farm machinery, products and technology.

The show opens at 9:00 a.m.

SaskCanola will again provide funding for the clubroot survey.

Roughly $170,000 will be spent to test soil samples collected throughout the province this year.

There were 43 confirmed cases of clubroot in Saskatchewan in 2018.

The newest members of the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame will be recognized for their lifelong contributions to the agricultural sector.

JoAnne Buth, Marc Comtois, Cynthia Grant, Louis Latimer, Laurent Pellerin and Robert Prestage will be officially inducted at a ceremony on Nov. 28 in Quebec City.

Many farmers are wondering how a recently announced federal government ban on single use plastics will affect their businesses.

Cleanfarms administers the grain bag recycling program in Saskatchewan. General Manager Barry Friesen says farm plastic products like grain bags and jugs were not on the list of single-use plastics targeted for bans.

The federal government recently announced a ban of some single-use plastics by 2021.
