Sask. farm group commits to cracking down on hunger
A large truck carrying 72,000 eggs pulled up to the Saskatoon Food Bank on Wednesday, in response to a challenge issued earlier this month.
The Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre kicked off Hunger Action Month by issued a challenge to provincial individuals and organizations to take action against poverty and hunger. SaskEgg Executive Director Cam Broten said they felt compelled to respond, and added the donation is part of a larger initiative.
“This month we will be giving out about 10,000 dozen eggs throughout the province to different food banks and feeding programs, shelters and organizations,” he said.
SaskEgg represents all the commercial egg farms across the province and Broten said giving back to communities is something the organization really cares about.
