Jan 10, 2020 | 9:57 AM

The president of SARM will discuss the federal carbon tax on grain drying and business risk management programs when he addresses the Regina district rural municipalities meeting today.

President Ray Orb said the federal government should provide a rebate to farmers who are facing high costs because of a wet harvest.

Orb said SARM is considering a trip to Ottawa to lobby the federal government before the next budget is introduced.

He said Ottawa also needs to make improvements to the Agristability program by changing the reference margin to 85 per cent from the current 70 per cent.

One of the largest privately-owned farm equipment dealer groups in Canada is making some changes to its leadership.

Doug Tibben will replace Arthur Ward as President of Pattison Agriculture starting Monday.

Tibben’s most recent role was general manager for Canada West Harvest Centre. Previously, he was with Rocky Mountain Equipment and a John Deere Dealership in Ontario.

Pattison Agriculture has 18 locations and employees 500 people across Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Arthur Ward will become vice-president of the Jim Pattison Group.
