Large world grain supplies are weighing on wheat and canola prices.

Neil Townsend with FarmLink Marketing Solutions said wheat this fall is expected to be around six to seven dollars a bushel.

Townsend said Argentina has a big crop and may set a new record for wheat shipments in the coming year.

Canada also faces trade obstacles with China as well as India.

Townsend said some of the high quality Canadian wheat may be shipped to the U.S. because of low quality in the U.S. winter wheat harvest.

The Saskatchewan Pasture tour will be in the Hanley area tomorrow.

The tour will visit different ranch operations and focus on pasture management.

Members of Duck’s Unlimited will be on hand at the event according to agrologist Jeremy Brown.

“Duck’s Unlimited’s interest in grassland is promoting healthy grasslands and profitable ranches because they are providing nesting habitat for waterfowl,” Brown said.

The Saskatchewan Forage Council, Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture, South Saskatchewan Watershed Stewards and the Canadian Cattleman’s Association are all part of the event.

The 16th tour is sold out again this year with 50 producers registered to attend.

Discussions are underway between the Hudson Bay Route Association (HBRA) and Canadian National Railway on the transfer of the Tisdale subdivision.

It was announced Wedneday in Flin Flon, that efforts are going ahead to repair the 53 miles of rail between Hudson Bay and Tisdale.

Member of the HBRA Chris Hudyma said this line plays a key role in attracting growth.

“As I look at Tisdale and Hudson Bay we are the inland prairie port with the terminals and forestry sector but we need Churchill to make this connection and we need this little piece of railroad.

Hudyma said talks are in the preliminary stages but things are looking promising for the rail that has not been used for 15 years.
