Company that makes coveralls for women has successful showing at Agribition

Nicole Toebes was frustrated that she couldn’t find coveralls that fit properly.

The first-generation dairy farmer from Prince Edward Island created the company AgPro Workwear because she was tired of settling for coveralls that didn’t work for her body shape.

Toebes started developing the ChoreAll women’s overalls five years ago with women in the livestock sector in mind.

“For women, it felt like there was no actual, true women’s sizing. There was just a kind of shrinked man’s sizing. I’m built like a woman, but I’m 5 foot 11 and I’m not a petite man, so it wasn’t fitting me properly at all. Between the fit and the function, there was a lot lacking in the workwear industry.”

The ChoreAlls are available in multiple sizes from extra small to a 5XL, in a regular length and a tall length. Toeboes said they’re built for curves.

“If you carry your weight more in your hips or if you carry it more in your belly, it allows you to buy the size you need for the largest part of your body and then pinch in what you don’t need.”

Toebes said when she got started, she couldn’t find a manufacturer that had a women’s true size chart.

“It’s a men’s thing that had been going on for far too long in the industry. So, I started holding open farm days, just inviting women to come and get measured for a discount once we did the launch for our product,” she said. “During that time, I was able to measure over 200 women and then built a size chart from the ground up.”

Toebes said the first thing you’ll notice about the coveralls is they’re a different fit. She said she’s had many women say the workwear that’s out there doesn’t fit and then they put on ChoreAlls and it fits like a glove. She said that has been very rewarding.

“You’re looking at a full body of four-way stretch. They’re very comfortable with the durability built into them. From there, you’ve got black pieces on your main wear spots, which are cut resistant and waterproof so your knees can stay dry,” she added. “You’re not going to fray out at the cuff. You’ve got a nice waterproof cell phone pocket with a magnetic snap to keep your phone there. It’s one of the big tools we use these days on and off farm. ”

Toebes said she took the product to the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto and had a very successful show. While she was setting up at Agribition in Regina, she was selling overalls even before the show actually started.

The coveralls used to be 100 per cent Canadian made but there was difficulty with manufacturers shutting down or switching to making something like towels or hospital gowns that are a little less labor intensive.

“My heart is for Canadian but, more importantly, my heart is for serving the farmer and I need to give them the best and give them the best consistently,” she said. “I found an excellent manufacturer overseas that I have the absolute pleasure of working with and providing a great quality product.”

Toebes said she enjoyed her time at Agribition.

“It’s been super fun,” she said. “It’s so great getting to talk to so many farmers and hear about so many different operations and what incredible things people are doing in agriculture here in the western provinces.”

ChoreAlls come into two colors – black and bloom, which is similar to burgundy.

The unlined coveralls are $239.99 a pair while the insulated coveralls are $289.99 and can be ordered online at agworkwear.com.
