Two well-known agricultural shows in Saskatchewan have been nominated for national awards.

The Ag in Motion outdoor farm show at Langham, Sask. has been nominated for the Business Event of the Year Award, and it will be competing against Canadian Western Agribition in Regina, Sask.

Saskatchewan Tourism Minister Alana Ross said Saskatchewan businesses, employees, and events are regularly recognized at this annual event, with a strong history of finalists and winners across multiple sectors. This is the most nominations Saskatchewan has received in a year.

“This record number of finalists speaks to the vibrancy and strength of Saskatchewan’s tourism industry as well as the dedication, creativity and passion of its people.”

There are total of nine Saskatchewan nominees for the Canadian Tourism program.

Ag in Motion and Agribition, Business Event of the Year Award;

Dakota Dunes Resort (Whitecap Dakota Nation), Indigenous Tourism Award, Tourism Employee of the Year Award (Thomas Royal Anderson) and Tourism Employer of the Year Award;

Wanuskewin Heritage Park (Saskatoon), Indigenous Tourism Award;

Blackstrap Glamping Resort (Saskatoon), Small-or Medium-Sized Business of the Year Award;

The Saskatchewanderer (Tourism Saskatchewan, Regina), Travel Media Professional of the Year Award;

and Field to Shield by Adventure Destinations (Saskatoon), Culinary Tourism Experience Award.

Tourism Saskatchewan CEO Jonathan Potts said the businesses and individuals nominated have done impressive work.

This recognition at the national level is most deserved and shines a bright spotlight on our province.”

The awards will be presented at a gala dinner ceremony in Gatineau, Que., on Nov. 20.
