OLDS, Alta. – Olds College is welcoming Paul Thiel as its next thought leader in Smart Agriculture.

The Thought Leader, according to the institution, is an advisor, connector, and collaborator role for Olds College and Canada’s Smart Agriculture Ecosystem.

It’s designed to engage an individual for two to three years, as a way to support the college’s engagement and leadership in education, training, and applied research in agriculture and technology.

“Mr. Thiel is an accomplished agri-business executive with over 35 years of experience in the Life Sciences industry. He has a deep understanding of agriculture and the current issues and opportunities facing the industry,” comments Stuart Cullum, President, Olds College.

“His leadership will support the growth of our programs and applied research for the benefit of industry and our learners, as we work to achieve our social purpose of transforming agriculture for a better world.”

Thiel takes over from Art Froehlich, who served from 2018-2021.

Thiel held several executive positions with Bayer Crop Science, including Vice President, Product Development & Regulatory Science, before retiring in 2019.
