A state-of-the-art livestock feed facility, boasting increased storage and production capacity, is now operating in downtown Chilliwack British Columbia.

Trouw Nutrition opened its largest North American mill on Chilliwack Central Road Wednesday and says the new 40,000-square-foot outlet has 50 percent more production capacity than its old facility, which dates back to the 1960s.

“This facility not only enhances our production capabilities but also demonstrates our commitment to innovation and sustainability,” said manufacturing and supply chain director Walker Eliason.

An estimated 1,100 tonnes of structural steel and 5,000 square meters of concrete were used to construct the new plant.

Eliason said the mill is equipped with cutting-edge technology that optimizes production and minimizes the company’s environmental footprint by reducing boiler energy consumption by 20 percent.

Trouw, which operates in 105 countries and has 22 manufacturing plants employing about 1,400 workers, says the mill will deliver feed across B.C.’s dairy and poultry sectors.
