GRANDE PRAIRIE, Alta. – The federal and provincial governments say the Canada-Alberta Livestock Feed Assistance program gave out $350 million to help producers pay for feed this past winter.
The program started due to the drought last summer that led to feed shortages and much higher costs.
The province said in a release the program’s first phase sent out $180 million for 14,000 applications and 2.1 million animals.
The second phase paid out $172 million for 11,300 applications.
