Saskatchewan based agriculture businesses to share $10 million
Agri-food businesses and support organizations have the expertise, products and ambition to compete, but need support to scale up, adopt new technology and move products to market faster.
Roughly $10 million will support nine projects through organizations including the Global Agri-Food Advancement Partnership, the Global Institute for Food Security (GIFS) and the Prairie Agriculture Machinery Institute (PAMI).
The money comes from three programs under Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan).
GIFS will receive roughly $1.6 million to expand genomics research capacity and help companies and breeding organizations bring higher-yielding, higher-quality livestock, pulses and other crops to market faster.
