Traceability changes questioned

CAA urges producers to participate in a traceability feedback survey

After a backlash from livestock producers, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has put on hold amendments to traceability rules in Canada

Farmers were particularily concerned about proposed amendments to Part XV (Traceability) of the Health of Animals Regulations.

The Canadian Cattle Association (CCA) wants to hear more about the proposed changes and how they would impact livestock operations. It has launched an online traceability feedback survey to ensure that producers have an opportunity to share their feedback.

“This survey is based on the proposed regulations that were anticipated. The proposed regulations are not in place, and the publication date has been paused. Producer feedback collected through this survey will be used to inform CCA’s next steps. We will use feedback collected through the survey only in aggregate. No personal information will be shared,” CCA shared on social media.
