Efficiently preserving feed to use during winter may be achieved in many ways and affects overall profitability.

Livestock and Feed Extension Specialist Dwayne Summach says equipment costs are a significant component of stored feed costs. Current calculations indicate it takes at least $27.50 to make a large round bale – in addition to the cost of producing the actual feed.
