Corteva to split operations

Corteva to separate crop protection and seed businesses

Oct 1, 2025 | 1:55 PM

Corteva will separate into two independent, publicly traded companies, one consisting of its current crop protection business and the other being the seed business.

The crop division would be known as New Corteva and SpinCo would be the seed side.

Current Corteva CEO Chuck Magro will become CEO of SpinCo. He said over the past six years, steps have been taken to build a strong, successful technology company by simplifying the portfolio, reducing costs, and investing in high-return endeavors.

“As a result, Corteva has become the clear industry leader, with market-leading positions in both crop protection and seed. As we look to the future, we want to best position both businesses to win in their respective markets and accelerate value for shareholders,” Magro said. “The seed and crop protection markets have evolved, and as a result, we see the opportunities ahead for both companies diverging.”

SpinCo will use advanced genetics to discover and develop solutions that help farmers around the world improve yield, enhance sustainability and strengthen crop health.

Current Corteva Chair Greg Page will become chair of New Corteva.

Corteva was formed in 2018 as the agriculture-focused subsidiary of DowDuPont following the merger of the two companies. It was spun off as its own entity in 2019. The flagship Pioneer seed business was originally acquired by DuPont in 1999.

The board of directors unanimously approved the changes. The transaction is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026.
