Regional 4-H Livestock Show an opportunity to show off a year’s worth of work
Seven 4-H clubs from northeast Saskatchewan will be part of the Regional 4-H Livestock Show and Sale this weekend at the Melfort Exhibition Grounds.
Nineteen-year-old Austin Olson with the Tisdale 4-H Beef Club said the sale wraps up a year of hard work by the 4-H members from attending meetings to keeping record books on their animals to raising their animal to be sold.
“We get our steers, our heifers and cow/calf pairs we’ve worked with throughout the year, going to summer shows and then to our achievement days,” Olson told farmnewsNOW. “Then you get to your regional show where all the clubs from all over the Northeast region come together and compete.”
The clubs participating this year are Tisdale, Beatty, Meskanaw-Ethelton, Three Lakes, Bar West, Moose Range and Kelvington which has 124 4-H members and 230 head of cattle, which is the largest participation in recent history.
