More information available to Saskatchewan canola growers

Oct 11, 2023 | 4:33 PM

Vital information for canola farmers will now be available on their handheld devices.

The Saskatchewan Canola Development Commission (SaskCanola) has created a new communications platform. The interactive texting service will give SaskCanola the ability to communicate more directly with its membership by sharing real-time, customized updates.

Farmers who subscribe will receive a weekly oilseeds market outlook report provided by market analyst Marlene Boersch. The information will include domestic and global influences on canola market prices.

Farmers will also receive Canola Watch, a weekly canola production newsletter during the growing season. SaskCanola will also use the service to send notices on upcoming events and to send urgent news and alerts.

Executive Director Tracy Broughton said producers will also be able to communicate with the SaskCanola team by texting the dedicated number to initiate a two-way conversation.

“Our intention with launching this new texting service is to provide farmers with timely information that empowers them to make informed decisions to optimize their farm businesses,” Broughton said.

To subscribe, text keyword SASKCANOLA to 1-877-241-7044.
