Farm workers wages to increase in the new year

VERNON, B.C.- The minimum wage for certain farm workers will increase in the new year.

Effective Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, the minimum piece work wages for workers who hand-harvest crops in B.C. will increase by 2.8 per cent.

The increase applies to 15 agricultural crops harvested by hand in B.C.:

  • Apples – $21.65 a bin
  • Apricots – $24.91 a half-bin
  • Beans – $0.297 a pond / $0.655 a kg
  • Blueberries – $0.502 a pond / $1.107 a kg
  • Brussels sprouts – $0.207 a pound / $0.456 a kg
  • Cherries – $0.285 a pound / $0.456 a kg
  • Grapes – $23.01 a half-bin
  • Mushrooms – $0.298 a pound / $0.628 a kg
  • Peaches – $23.01 a half-bin
  • Pears – $24.38 a bin
  • Peas – $0.37 a pound / $0.816 a kg
  • Prune plums – $24.38 a half-bin
  • Raspberries – $0.436 a pound / $0.996 a kg
  • Daffodils – $0.174 a bunch (10 stems)
