MELFORT, Sask. – Canadian Western Agribition (CWA) and the Saskatchewan Roughriders partnered to provide admission to more than 500 displaced Ukrainians and newcomers to attend Agribition yesterday.

CWA CEO Shaun Kindopp said Agribition is a place of community.

“As Ukrainians and refugees transition into this new way of life, it’s important for them to feel welcome and safe in our province,” Kindopp said.

So far, over 2,000 Ukrainians have arrived in the province since the war began in February.

Some of these newcomers will also attended the Maple Leaf Finals Pro Rodeo.

Cereals Canada and the Canadian Grain Commission are telling export customers about the successful 2022 wheat crop.

A jointly released report said over 90 per cent of red spring wheat-graded number one or two and protein content is higher than average.

Durum numbers were a bit lower with 80 per cent grading one or two and with protein content also higher than average.

In the coming weeks, the report will be shared in person when Canadian delegations travel to more than 15 countries in Asia, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Corteva Agriscience is stepping into the biologics side of the industry with its purchase of Stoller Group.

Corteva Chief Executive Officer Chuck Magro said biologicals provide farmers with sustainably advantaged tools that complement crop protection technologies.

He said the two can work together to address global challenges around food security and climate change.

Houston-based Stoller is one of the largest independent biological companies in the industry with operations and sales in more than 60 countries.
