MELFORT, Sask. – SynergyAG continues to grow.

The agriculture retail company announced Monday it will build its 11th crop input centre just south of Melfort, Sask. on a five-acre site along highway 41 just south of the city.

President and CEO Brad Hanmer said the company started six years ago with an emphasis on being a trusted, independent crop supplier.

“When you look at the landscape of all independent retail, we’re just trying to bring back that same opportunity that customers may come to appreciate with having an intimate business in their own town,” he said.

The Melfort location is a spin-off from the St. Brieux facility, which is currently under construction, according to Hanmer.

“SynergyAG is committed to bringing a unique customer experience to the marketplace delivering a tailored approach to innovations in crop production,” Hanmer told farmnewsNOW. “We’ve been servicing the Melfort area with our St. Brieux store and what we’ve decided is there is an opportunity that exists to service customers to the maximum potential.”

SynergyAG Melfort Location Manager Collin Martin said it was exciting to bring back a locally owned, independent crop input retailer to Melfort and surrounding areas.

A temporary office on Broadway Avenue south will serve the Melfort area until the permanent facility is built. The St. Brieux location will continue to provide support until Melfort is fully operational next year.

The SynergyAG anhydrous ammonia site between St. Brieux and Melfort will also be used by both locations. A second NH3 site is in the works and will be operational in early 2023.

SynergyAG has agricultural retail operations in Govan, Lumsden, Lewvan, Pense, Balcarres, Yorkton, Lajord, Grenfell, St. Brieux, and Provost, AB.
