Taber corn now in stands across Medicine Hat

MEDICINE HAT, AB — One of the best summer side dishes is now available.

Taber corn is finally hitting stands across the city this week.

After a frosty, cold spring, the harvest came about a week earlier than anticipated. Farmer James Johnson says that’s because of summer heat coming sooner than they thought.

Peaches and cream is the current corn available for sale, but Johnson says the main harvest is still to come.

“I wouldn’t encourage anyone to buy sacks of it to freeze, because we have some better stuff coming in about a week to 10 days,” Johnson said.

Corn can be found in Medicine Hat in the parking lots of London Drugs, Canadian Tire, Rona and on Dunmore Road. In Brooks, it’s for sale near Canadian Tire and Shopper’s Drug Mart.

Up-to-date Taber corn information can be found on Johnson Fresh Farms Facebook page.
