Mar 2, 2020 | 9:58 AM

Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan (APAS) said there’s still more than two million acres of unharvested crops in the province.

APAS President Todd Lewis said it’s unusual to have that much crop on the ground.

He said producers will be able to get out on the fields as the snow starts melting.

Four Conservative MPs have written to the Deputy Prime Minister saying the government must compensate dairy farmers within 90 days of the new North American trade deal becoming law.

The MPs said the dairy sector is the biggest loser in the new USMCA, citing a 3.6 per cent loss of market share in Canada due to the deal.

The Conservatives also want the government to delay implementation of the deal to January, to allow the auto industry time to adjust.

Farm Credit Canada is accepting applications from registered charities and non-profit organizations in rural Canada for the FCC AgriSpirit Fund.

Roughly $1.5 million in funding will be awarded this year for various community improvement initiatives that enhance the lives of residents or contribute to sustainability in communities like equipment purchase and installation, energy efficient building improvements and repairs and purchasing rescue and fire equipment.

The application deadline is March 31 and FCC will announce the selected projects in August.

Rural community groups can view the eligibility requirements, past projects and apply online here.
