The Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s Association (SCA) has elected a Shellbrook area farmer and rancher as the new chair of its board of directors.

Arnold Balicki said he eagerly anticipates starting in his new position.

“It is with a great deal of enthusiasm that I look forward to working with our board and staff to better our cattle industry, and to provide our consumers with the understanding of how important a role our industry plays in their everyday lives,” Balicki said in a news release. “I want to thank our outgoing chair, Rick Toney, for his leadership and dedication in his term as chair. A big thank you also goes out to the board of directors for entrusting me as their new chair.”

The remaining executive will include vice chair Keith Day from Kyle, Dean Moore, finance chair from Paradise Hill. The past chair is Rick Toney from Gull Lake while Brad Welter from Viscount will serve as a member at large.

The SCA board is made up of representatives from each of Saskatchewan’s nine crop districts. There are two members from Districts 3 and 9 because of the large number of cattle in those areas.

Newly elected board members to the SCA are Randy Stokke in District 4, Brian Cole for District 8 and Garrett Poletz from the Saskatchewan Cattle Feeders Association.

The election was held as part of the SCA annual meeting during the Saskatchewan Beef Industry conference in Saskatoon last week.
