Two independent crop input retailers are joining forces

G-Mac’s AgTeam announced on Facebook it has entered into an agreement to merge Cavalier Agrow into G-Mac’s operation.

G-Mac’s AgTeam President and CEO Garth MacDonald said the merger will provide customers with access to enhanced products and services.

The combined companies will serve 14 locations with 130 employees in communities as far north as Meadow Lake and south to Leader.

Cavalier Agrow was formed in 1999 and offered seed, inoculants, liquid fertilizer and agronomic guidance at Meota, Medstead, Spiritwood and Meadow Lake.

Patterns of seasonal flu this past fall and winter have been similar to what is usually seen. Flu starts to carryover into pigs at the same time.

Dr. Susan Detmer with the University of Saskatchewan Western College of Veterinary Medicine said flu activity in humans is starting to decline after that first peak and the same is happening with pigs.

She said the main concern is the type of viruses because some of them are more likely to cross between pigs and people. One of those is the pandemic H1N1 strain.

Detmer said there is still vaccine available. If you haven’t been vaccinated yet this winter you still can.

Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland urged the opposition parties to get on with enshrining the revamped North American free trade pact into law.

Freeland kicked off debate on a bill to implement the new deal by saying it is time for Canada to join the U.S. and Mexico by ratifying the deal.

She said the new NAFTA preserves the core of the existing agreement while improving the parts that affect numerous Canadian industries.

The United States and Mexico have already ratified the agreement.

The Canadian implementation bill has been introduced in the House of Commons, with only the Bloc Quebecois voting against a motion to make way for the legislation.
