Agriculture Roundup for Wednesday January 29, 2020
Cattle and hog futures dropped on Monday as news of the coronavirus caused a selloff in global equities and commodities.
Despite the decline in futures prices, the market fundamentals are still good for both beef and pork.
Saskatchewan feeder cattle prices were mixed last week. Canfax reported just over 12,000 head were sold in the warmer temperatures.
Feeder steers ranged from $2.67 lower to $1.58 per hundredweight higher. The biggest decline was in the 400 to 500 weight steers. The largest price increase was for 900 pound and over steers.
