A new map showing confirmed cases of clubroot has been released.

The Clubroot Distribution Map outlines the rural municipalities where clubroot has been identified.

A total of 51 commercial canola fields now show symptoms of the disease since testing began in 2017. That’s eight more fields since the release of the map last January.

The clubroot pathogen was detected in another five fields where there were no visible symptoms.

The results came from Ministry of Agriculture surveys and samples submitted by producers.

Two announcements from barley and wheat groups Monday at their annual meetings.

The barley commissions in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba launched the Canadian Barley Research Coalition. It will work on a collaborative approach to funding regional and national research projects in variety development and agronomy.

The Canadian Wheat Research Coalition committed more than $9.6 million over five years to a core breeding agreement with the Crop Development Centre for the creation of spring wheat cultivars.

The agreement includes the wheat commissions in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba.

Canaryseed producers attending their annual meeting at Prairieland Park voted 25 to 2 in favour of having the crop licensed and bonded by the Canadian Grain Commission.

The move came after the financial failure of ILTA Grain cost affected canary seed producers 2.1 million.

The Canaryseed development commission will begin the process to make that happen.

Saskatchewan Pulse Growers have voted in favor of a resolution to expand it’s board.

There will be an additional two positions created.

It was felt a nine member board would better share the workload.
