SCIC Workers Agreement

Crop insurance workers secure tentative agreement

Dec 20, 2019 | 2:00 PM

SGEU’s bargaining committee at the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation (SCIC) have reached a tentative agreement.

SCIC bargaining committee chair Alan Evans said the bargaining unit had been without a contract since Sept. 30, 2016.

“It was a long and challenging round of negotiations but we’re pleased we were able to make some gains with this contract,” Evans said in a news release. “Our members work hard to support the many programs SCIC offers across the province, and we are proud of our efforts in keeping the corporation financially sound while supporting the changing needs of agricultural producers.”

Evans said the new agreement is in line with provincial agreements that have been ratified in the last few months. Details will not be released publicly until the ratification process is complete.

Members will receive information about the tentative agreement in early January and will vote by mail-in ballot.

The agreement covers roughly 400 members in 21 offices across the province plus the head office in Melville.
