A Canadian company plans to build its ninth grain elevator in Saskatchewan.

G3 Swift Current will have a capacity of 42,000 tonnes and will be located on a CP Rail line.

G3 CEO Don Chapman said the facility will be built with the same high-efficiency features as other new facilities on the prairies. Which includes a loop track that can load a 150 car unit train and the ability to unload a Super-B truck in less than five minutes.

“G3 has been steadily growing to serve some of the most productive grain growing regions in Western Canada,” Chapman said in a news release. “We’re happy to add Vermilion and Swift Current to our network and give farmers there a fast and efficient option for moving their grain to market.”

G3 currently has high-efficiency elevators in Saskatchewan in Colonsay, Kindersley, Leader and Maidstone. As well as new facilties under construction at Wetaskiwin, Morinville, Carmangay, Irricana and Stettler County, Alberta.

A new G3 grain export terminal is under construction in North Vancouver and will open next year.

G3 is also building an elevator at Vermilion, Alberta that will have a capacity of 34,000 tonnes and is located on CN Rail line.

Construction on both elevators will begin in early 2020 with completion expected in 2021.
