There is national recognition for the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group.

The website farmnewsNOW.com received the Gold Award for the best agriculture related website at the Canadian Farm Writers Federation (CFWF) conference in New Westminster, B.C. on Saturday.

The Henry Heald Award is presented to a website with the majority of its content devoted to agricultural news, information and features.

Judges pay particular attention to written content and how the web’s interactive properties are used to enhance the site’s style, content and originality.

Agricultural Information Director Alice McFarlane was on hand to accept the award.

“It’s an honour to receive this award on behalf of the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group and the many people that have been involved in the creation and day-to-day operations of this site,” McFarlane said. “We have worked hard to provide an informative website for farmers and that work will continue as we’re always looking for ways to improve how we deliver information to the primary producer.”

The award is named after Henry Heald who was a journalist and freelance writer from Ontario. He worked for the Canadian Press, The Ottawa Journal, Agriculture Canada and is a life member of CFWF.

Each year the Canadian Farm Writers’ and Broadcasters’ Awards Competition honours excellence in agricultural journalism, broadcasting, communications and photography.
