Sep 16, 2019 | 4:56 PM

Commodity groups that speak for wheat, barley and pulse growers have released results of the nomination call.

Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission (Sask Wheat) received nominations from seven wheat producers for three available positions on the board of directors.

The candidates include: Lesley Kelly of Watrous, Garth Massie from Biggar, Brady Sproat of Kipling, Glenn Tait of Meota, Jocelyn Velestuk of Broadview and Stewart Wells from Swift Current.

The election will open Oct. 18 and will close Nov. 29 at 4 p.m. Ballots will be sent to all registered wheat producers in October where producers will have the option to vote electronically or through a mail-in, paper ballot. The results of the election will be released in early December.

Saskatchewan Barley Development Commission (SaskBarley) received four nominations to fill three positions.

Keith Rueve of Muenster, Michael Haydon from Swift Current, Matt Enns of Rosthern and Glenn Wright of Vanscoy let their names stand for election.

Voting ballots and instructions will be mailed out to all Saskatchewan barley producers in October. An electronic voting option will also be available. Election results will be announced in December.

Saskatchewan Pulse Growers received three nominations for three positions on its board.

Brad Blackwell of Dinsmore will continue on for a second term and John Bumbac of Assiniboia and Jason Hennes of Eatonia will join the board starting in January.

The new director terms will begin following the annual general meeting during CropSphere 2020 in Saskatoon.
