Provincial pest surveys underway in select fields

Provincial pest surveys have begun across Saskatchewan.
Paige Straf is an agriculture extension summer student with the Ministry of Agriculture. She said conducting the surveys are important.
“The data collected from the survey will be used to estimate the level of disease and insects across Saskatchewan,” Straf said. “It allows for the creation of maps, showing the distribution and severity of pests.”
The different crops to be surveyed are field peas, lentils, chick peas, soybeans, flax and canola in the northeast portion of the province.
