Details of crop tour to be unveiled Thursday at farm meeting

Farmers and farm specialists will converge on Regina this Thursday as the details of a Prairie-wide crop tour are unveiled.

FarmLink Marketing Solutions Senior Market Analyst Neil Townsend said all farmers are invited to hear the results.

There will be guest speakers which include Drew Lerner from World Weather Inc.

Townsend said they have multiple teams coming out to take a look at what crops look like in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba.

“We are trying to get a picture of what it looks like out there and what to expect,” Townsend said. “There has been a lot of variable weather this year.”

Drought concerns between Regina and Saskatoon were on the minds of producers to start the year but that has since changed.

“We are seeing improvements in parts of Saskatchewan that we previously had concerns with but of course this is just in general,” Townsend said.

Markets are of concern and will be touched on as well at the farm meeting.

“Canada is facing obstacles with China and then still has issues with India so the politics don’t look too favourable for higher prices,” Townsend said.

The meeting will take place on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Royal Hotel.
