Canada’s Farm Progress Show opens tomorrow in Regina.

As the exhibitors finish setting up for the show today, dignitaries and media will have a sneak peak of what’s in store this year.

Show Manager Shirley Janeczko said there are over 500 exhibitors including several new companies.

She said it’s an opportunity for businesses to launch new products.

The show runs tomorrow through to Friday at Evraz Place in Regina.

The Livestock and Forage Centre of Excellence is holding its first annual field day today south of Clavet.

Dr. Kris Ringwall said livestock producers will have many questions about the dry weather and the feed situation.

There will be numerous research tours and presentations.

This is a free event.

A series of storms across Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta produced hail that resulted in light to medium damage to crops.

Canadian Crop Hail Association said farmers in Tisdale, Ituna, Weyburn, Midale, Canora and Kamsack reported damage.

June is can be one of the most active hail periods across Western Canada. Last year, a June 14 storm destroyed crops across Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta. Some insurers said it was one of the costliest June storms on record.

The Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance released its list of priorities heading into the 2019 federal election.

President Brian Innes said despite record agri-food exports in 2018, growth has been threatened by uncertainty and protectionism.

Some of the platform’s key recommendations include preserving and enhancing access in key export markets, creating new export opportunities, supporting rules-based trade and setting clear priorities by focusing on trade negotiations that hold the greatest promise for Canadian businesses.
