Wind chill values of -40 C are expected to develop as a cold arctic ridge settles over Saskatchewan.

Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for the northern half of the province and for the entire area between Meadow Lake south to Estevan. During the extreme cold, frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

The forecasts for North Battleford and Meadow Lake call for a high of -19 C and -20 C on Sunday respectively with a wind chill of -40 C in the morning; however, wind chill values are expected to moderate as temperatures increase.
