Good year for wheat

Dec 27, 2018 | 9:12 AM

It was a fairly good year for wheat production in Saskatchewan.

Scott Hepworth is vice chair of SaskWheat. He said even with the difficult harvest, the quality of the wheat crop was quite good.

“There was a little bit of a tale of two harvests,” explained Hepworth. “But in the end, once we reviewed the data, the quality was very good. I think that’s a testament to some of the varieties that we’re growing these days, they can weather the conditions a little bit better than they have in the past.

Hepworth said he is optimistic about what 2019 holds for wheat producers, with good demand for spring wheat.
