The Saskatchewan Canola Development Commission (SaskCanola) has found its new executive director.

Lisa Horn will assume the role effective immediately.

In a news release SaskCanola Chair Doyle Wiebe welcomed Horn to the team.

“Lisa is an experienced leader in the agriculture industry. Her breadth of knowledge will help advance the strategic direction of SaskCanola and the canola industry, while leading on the issues and priorities fundamental to our mandate,” Wiebe said.

“I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to join the SaskCanola team,” Horn said. “I look forward to working with SaskCanola’s remarkable staff and directors to share in the prosperous evolution of canola research, advocacy, and market development on behalf of Saskatchewan’s canola growers.”

Horn grew up on a mixed farm in west central Saskatchewan and was involved with cattle and equipment. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan.

Horn built a career at Federated Co-operatives Limited that focused on retail co-ops. She was involved in the technical support, marketing and procurement of seed for retails.

Adele Buettner served as the Interim Executive Director with the departure of Janice Tranberg in June.
