Cattle market prices decline

Saskatchewan feeder cattle prices are lower in all weight categories.

The latest cattle market report from the Ministry of Agriculture indicated feeder steer prices dropped by $3 per hundredweight with the biggest price declines in the 700 to 800 pound category.

Saskatchewan feeder heifer prices were down $4 per hundredweight during the same reporting period. The greatest loss was in the 300 to 400 pound category.

Prices for liveweight, non-fed cattle in Alberta were also lower.

Canfax reported nearly 43,000 head of cattle were sold in Saskatchewan over the week, down from 48,600 head the previous week.
