Applicants needed for Ag. youth leadership program

Oct 13, 2018 | 11:10 AM

Support for young producers and keeping the agriculture industry sustainable are two of the driving forces behind a youth leadership and mentorship program offered by the Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan (APAS).

The application deadline for the 2018-2019 program is just over two weeks away. In 2016, participants in the Youth Leadership and Mentorship Program asked for and received the support at the APAS Annual General Meeting to set up their own Policy Committee: the APAS Young Agricultural Producers Committee, or ‘YAP.’ Participants in the 2018-19 APAS Youth Leadership and Mentorship Program will work with the YAP Committee to help identify policy ideas for the future.

In addition to attending the APAS Annual General Meeting in Regina next month, participants will also attend the Canadian Federation of Agriculture AGM in Ottawa, Feb.  27 to March 1, 2019 where they will have the opportunity to meet industry leaders and ministers.

The application deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 31. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 39 as of Nov. 1, be an active agricultural producer, and be available for approximately 12 to 14 days from November 2018 to August 2019.
