Firefighters dealing with fire at grain facility near Unity

Oct 12, 2018 | 9:41 AM

As of 3p.m. Thursday, RCMP were still at the scene of a fire at the North West Terminals grain facility near Unity.

Police said in a release that emergency crews were called out around 7:20 a.m. Thursday. Police say the fire is contained to the facility’s grain dryer, although the main offices were evacuated as well. RCMP say staff were working at the elevator when the fire started, and the cause of the blaze is not believed to be criminal.

Unity RCMP were asking motorists along Highway 14 to steer clear of emergency vehicles, and avoid stopping along the highway as it could be risky to those working in the area.
