A call for nominations has been launched by the Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan (APAS), ahead of a big election next month.

On Oct. 24, the organization will be holding elections for all 138 of its provincial representatives. The nomination deadline for candidates to file their papers is Sept 19. at 4 p.m. Nomination forms are available at APAS member RM offices and on the APAS website

There is a short list of criteria for people interested in being a candidate including being 18 years of age or older. The potential candidate must also be a landowner or active producer in the APAS member RM they are running in, or be the spouse or child of a landowner/active producer.

Every APAS member RM elects a representative to participate in meetings and activities. The representative is responsible for gathering producer input from their RM to bring to APAS policy discussions and activities back to the agricultural producers in their rural municipality. APAS Representatives are eligible to vote at general meetings, can run for and elect directors for their districts and sit on specific policy committees.
