Canadian National Railway had the second best May ever for grain shipped, according to the company’s weekly report.
Over 2.5 million metric tonnes of grain was shipped last month. Year-to-date CN has shipped 20.6 tonnes, which represents an increase of two per cent versus the three-year average but is a few points below the five-year average. Total contract orders were 2,328.
CN ships grain using a common hopper fleet, comprised of government hoppers, CN owned and leased cars, and customer-owned cars.
