Saskatchewan producers can take advantage of tax incentives while supporting agriculture research.

The annual Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) credit is a federal government program that encourages research by providing tax-based incentives.

By using levy contributions to finance research and development work that benefits wheat, barley, pulse and canola producers, commodity groups are able to participate in the program and distribute tax-based incentives to producers.

The program gives registered producers access to tax credits, by means of cash refunds or a reduction to taxes payable, for their levy contributions that are spent on qualifying research.

Producers that have requested a refund of their levy are not eligible for either tax credit.

Saskatchewan Pulse Growers, in partnership with SaskCanola, are hosting a winter pulse meeting tomorrow at the Tisdale Civic Centre.

The meeting will explore a number of pulse and canola topics including root rot, market access, clubroot, seed varieties, agronomy and a market outlook.

You can secure your ticket to this event at saskpulse.com.

Sask Wheat will be holding a producer information meeting in Melfort on Thursday.

Think Wheat 2020 will provide information on weed control, pest management, global wheat markets, fertilizer optimization, and the latest technology.

Registration is free and includes lunch and refreshments and is open only to those who are involved in the agriculture industry and live in Saskatchewan.
